Viscosity solutions, almost everywhere solutions and explicit formulas
Consider the differential inclusion Du ∈ E in R. We exhibit an explicit solution that we call fundamental. It turns out to be also a viscosity solution, when properly defining this notion. Finally we consider a Dirichlet problem associated to the differential inclusion and we give an iterative procedure for finding a solution.
متن کاملExplicit Formulas for the Solutions of Piecewise Linear Networks
A methodology is presented for obtaining explicit formulas for the solution of class-P piecewise linear (PL) networks and, inherently, for the linear complementary problem (LCP). The method uses the b c operator, which has been previously defined in the literature to extend the explicit PL model descriptions of Chua. An important consequence of the methodology is that it proves that class-P net...

Lu = aij(x)Diju for u ∈ C(Ω). Suppose u ∈ C(Ω) is a supersolution in Ω, i.e. Lu ≤ 0. Then if φ ∈ C(Ω) satisfies Lφ > 0, we get L(u− φ) < 0 in Ω, hence by the maximum principle, u− φ does not have interior local minima in Ω. Put differently, if φ ∈ C(Ω) is such that u− φ has a local minimum at x0 ∈ Ω, then necessarily Lφ(x0) ≤ 0. Geometrically, u− φ having a local minimum at x0 means that the gr...
متن کاملExplicit multiple singular periodic solutions and singular soliton solutions to KdV equation
Based on some stationary periodic solutions and stationary soliton solutions, one studies the general solution for the relative lax system, and a number of exact solutions to the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation are first constructed by the known Darboux transformation, these solutions include double and triple singular periodic solutions as well as singular soliton solutions whose amplitude d...
متن کاملIncentive Compatibility: Everywhere vs. Almost Everywhere∗
A risk neutral buyer observes a private signal s ∈ [a, b], which informs her that the mean and variance of a normally distributed risky asset are s and σ s respectively. She then sets a price at which to acquire the asset owned by risk averse “outsiders”. Assume σ s ∈ { 0, σ } for some σ > 0 and let B = { s ∈ [a, b] | σ s = 0 } . If B = ∅, then there exists a fully revealing equilibrium in whic...
